Design in the streets, design on your screen, design on your phone, design everywhere ! The graphic, visual and textual noise is today overwhelming. How to stand out ? How to create relevant design and communications that engage people ? Simple: be simple. At Base, in our studios of Brussels, New York and Geneva, we design brands based on one idea: one idea is all we need. In this talk, Thierry will give away all our Base tips and tricks and show you how we applied these principles in our client presentations and iconic projects.
Don’t design for designers. Design for people.
Thierry Brunfaut is Base Design’s Founding Partner & Creative Director, active in Brussels, New York and Geneva. To projects ranging from visual identities to ad campaigns, Thierry imparts a philosophy of graphic and conceptual simplicity that emphasizes concise communication. “Don’t design for designers. Design for people” is one of his mottos. Thierry believes in the power of creative autonomy mixed with teamwork and pleasure through ever-changing processes. Thierry has led landmark Base projects including MoMA, Maison Michel, San Francisco Art Institute, Mobistar, BeTV, Bozar, Hotel Missoni, Fondation Louis Vuitton, Haus der Kunst, Maison Dandoy, Delvaux, The Olympic Museum and La Monnaie Opera and is the author the “5-minute poster series”, creating 50 typographic works, each dedicated to a short bit of wisdom on design. Today, Thierry is also a teacher in branding and is a regular speaker in design and branding conferences around the world. Thierry bears a striking and seemingly contradictory resemblance both to Moby and Kermit the Frog.
